On September 8, the elementary school had an assembly. The assembly focused on friendship, the guidance theme for the month of September. Some fifth-grade volunteers had prepared a skit called “The Friendship Game.” Read the full story

At precisely 6:43am on September 9, a huge yellow crane hoisted the first girder, well over 30 meters long, into the grey air. The massive crane, plopped in the middle of the bus lane that runs along the face of the high school gym, aquatics center and high school, extended its arm high above the construction site itself, and dropped a spider-web of a cable down to the alley where the girders were waiting to be lifted one by one and placed. As part of the fifth-grade writing unit, Grade 5 students at SAS, Puxi campus, had a chance to actually experience words by going to the Sensory Word Stores in the fifth-grade project area September 7-11. Using their five senses, students got to taste, smell, hear, see, and touch each object described by a particular word. Read the full story

The elementary school on the Puxi campus is almost 700 strong. That’s a lot of children. Of upmost concern is the safety of these children. Therefore Principal Mary Lane, and Vice-Principal Michelle Baxter believe that as a part of the emphasis on safety, classes should be offered on how to ride and use a bicycle safely.
