The Shanghai American School community should be very proud, not only of the incredible effort which our student athletes put forward on the courts during the All APAC Boys Basketball Championship hosted at SAS Pudong, but of their tremendous sportsmanship and school wide Eagle Spirit demonstrated during the tournament. In fact, we might want to consider changing our school’s slogan from “One School Two Unique Campuses” to “Two Campuses One Amazing Eagle Spirit”. 

During Pudong’s round robin game against WAB on Friday afternoon Eagle Spirit filled the gymnasium, lead by the student athletes of SAS Puxi boy’s varsity basketball team, as well as the student body of SAS Pudong. The cheering became so loud in the gym it was as if there were two home teams cheering against one visiting APAC team. 

The action on the court went back and forth throughout the game with each SAS Pudong and WAB taking the lead at critical points, but in the end Pudong was able to pull out a 42-35 overtime win, thanks in part to the outstanding support shown by their SAS Puxi brothers from across the Huang Pu. 

In sports the home field advantage is sometimes like having a sixth man on the court, but during Pudong’s game against WAB this amazing Friday afternoon it was as if we had a seventh man on the court.

Thank you SAS Puxi for showing what it means to have true Eagle Spirit or what we in Pudong like to call Eagle Pride!!!
