More than 140 Pudong campus and Puxi campus Aqua Eagles attended the annual Candy Cane New Year’s meet.  Swimmers were anxious to see if the Winter Break would have the effect of slowing them down.  Few were disappointed in their results and the meet that welcomes in the New Year was fast, fun and exciting with of course a candy cane for all participants.  Our swimmers did exceptionally well and they should be proud of their mid-year progress. Girls’ 8 & Under: Tina Wang 1st, Megan Wang 2nd, & Linda Li 3rd 
Boys’ 8 & Under: James Soutendijk 1st, David Xue 2nd, & William Chui 3rd 
Girls’ 9-10: Josephine Mah 1st, Angela Xiao & Chee Ling Wu tied for 2nd 
Boys’ 9-10: William Huang 1st, Richard Huang 2nd & Josh Wang 3rd
Girls’ 11-12: Jessica Hu 1st, Keaton Blovad 2nd, Jacqui Johnson 3rd 
Boys’ 11-12: Tristan So 1st, Braedon Wong & Ivor Huang tied for 2nd
Girls’ 13-14: Michelle Xu 1st, Carina Seah 2nd, Karen Hsu & Gina Soutendijk tied for 3rd 
Boys’ 13-14: Richard Wu 1st, Anthony Lui & Daniel Lin tied for 2nd 

Also few swimmers moved up an age group at this meet. Those performing well despite this move were Jessica Hu, Ben Attenberger, Vivian Zhou, Carina Seah, and Angela Cai. 
New SAS swim records were set by 8&U Tina Wang in 25m Backstroke and 100m IM; by 9-10 Josephine Mah in 100m IM; by 11-12 Jessica Hu in 50m and 100m Freestyle; by 11-12 Keaton Blovad in 100 IM; by 8&U James Soutendijk in 100 IM; and by Tristan So in 100m Backstroke.
Personal Best times were achieved by 110 swimmers. Setting Personal Bests in 3 or more of their 4 races were Meher Arora, Beaton Blovad, Jen Bollesen, Remy Castella, Nicholas Chan, Andrea Chew, William Chiu, Maya Desmond, Madeline Hsu, Richard Hung, Rex Kim, Ryan Ku, Min Young Lee, Taehee Lee, Linda Li, Kyle Liang, Noah Litchenberg, Daniel Lin, Victor Lo, Anthony Lui, Josephine Mah, Abby Pan, Ashley Park, Dennis Park, London Ray, Rebecca Shao, Timothy Shen, Gina Soutendijk, James Soutendijk, Tiffany Thio, Sam Tucker, Tina Wang, Madeleine Whissell, Richard Wu, Vivian Xu, David Xue, Rico Zhang, Erin Zhang, and Vivian Zhou.

Next up is the Bangkok International School Splash Invitational March 20-21, where our top swimmers will defend the 1st place title, competing with 14 other international schools from the Asian region in a 2-day event.
