Welcome to Shanghai American School

This school year, almost 50 new faculty and staff members have joined the SAS community. Here are two more recent additions to the SAS staff:

Deborah Butcher

DSCN1360 (Small)Deborah is coming to SAS as an Admission Officer on the Puxi Campus. Even before joining the Admission Team, Deborah was an active member of the SAS community as a parent volunteer. Choosing a career in public relations, she managed her own PR firm in the United States. While serving as a member of the Board in one of the non-profit organizations in America, she was involved in special events management where she and her team successfully raised funds through establishing key contacts in the community. Deborah graduated with a degree in Communications. She is here in China together with her husband and a daughter who attends 10th grade in the Puxi Campus.

Ausra Maggiar  

Ausra Maggiar (Small)Ausra, pronounced as “Aw-shra,”is a new Teacher Assistant at the Puxi campus elementary school. She received her Master’s degree in Business Administration from California Coast University. When she and her family were living in South Korea, she owned and managed a private English-Korean language school, where she also taught English as a Second Language to both young children and adults. Before being appointed to the TA position, Ausra also worked in sales and marketing in Luthania and as a part-time substitute staff at SAS.
