Contributions

Here are some things to keep in mind about being a contributor to the Eagle and EagleOnline.org:

You are our reporter.

Generally speaking, if you give us a good story…it’s going in.  However, sometimes due to space limitations or other pressing content, your story may have to wait until the next issue or may be run here at eagleonline.org.

We like to hunt down stories and invite people to write special interest stories.  However,  the Eagle does not have a team of field reporters.  Our reporters are you – the parents, faculty, students and alumni of Shanghai American School.  If you have a story, write it up and send it in.

Make sure your articles are interesting and edgy, hip, cool, (or hot) with-it, jazzy and fun.  In other words…engaging.

We want your photos.

When you attend or report on events, take photos and then send us the hi-resolution photos straight out of your camera.  You don’t need to edit them and by all means, don’t embed them in a Microsoft Word document.  If you do send photos, be sure to include the name of the photographer and the names of those pictured in the photograph. (Without this information, the photo most likely will not be published. )

Sometimes, you take good photos but don’t really have time to write a full story.  We understand.  Just send us those great photos and give us a sentence or two to work with.  You might be surprised.

Did you proofread that?

Submitting sloppy copy only slows down the production process.  Be sure to run Spell-Check and insure that the details, names and dates in your story are spot-on.  The Eagle editors will edit stories and provide feedback if required before publication.

Meet the deadline.

Please be sure to check deadlines before submitting articles for publication. The production schedule can be found on the Eagle Online homepage, and on page 2 of the printed copy.

We are waiting.  Send it in.
